Cheri Lasota’s Background

Cheri Lasota has been a freelance editor, ebook designer and marketing consultant for the last 11 years. Her clients have ranged from individual indie authors to McGraw-Hill Publishing Company. She is a techno-dweeb with an unhealthy obsession for productivity apps, organizing and schnauzers–doesn’t everyone? Cheri is also founder of Audavoxx.com, an audiobook promotion service. In addition to her client work, Cheri has written fiction since she was a small child. She is co-founder of the Paradisi Chronicles, an innovative open-source scifi universe open to all authors, and plans to write another six novels/novellas in the Paradisi canon. Echoes in the Glass, a YA Historical set on the Oregon Coast, is Cheri’s second novel. Her bestselling debut novel, Artemis Rising, is a 2013 Cygnus Awards First Place Winner and a 2012 finalist in the Next Generation Indie Books Awards. Cheri has also written a nonfiction how-to, Design and Upload Your ePub.

“Cheri Lasota has been a fantastic help to me in getting my writing finalized and available on Kindle and Createspace. From the very beginning of working with her she has been focused and dedicated to getting my books into the world. She is an excellent line editor, spotting mistakes after my manuscripts have been proofed numerous times. Once my ms was ready, her computer skills became apparent as she interfaced with Kindle and Createspace to get my books properly formatted with good fonts so that they look polished and professional. I can’t recommend her highly enough, you won’t be disappointed with her work and commitment to getting projects done quickly and efficiently. I look forward to her help getting the next five books completed in my middle grade series Arken Freeth and the Adventure of the Neanderthals.” Alex Paul

Author of the Arken Freeth series

Cheri redesigned my author web site beautifully. My budget was limited and she worked within those constraints to give me a functioning website that displayed my books. She was a delight to work with and understood my vision exactly. Cheri was available both during the project and after for follow-up questions. She is now my go-to expert for website design. I highly recommend her services.

Have you ever had someone say that the title of your book makes them think of throwing up?  That’s what Cheri Lasota said about the title of my first novel (Sea Sick). Cheri was right about the need to change that and a lot of other tweaks that would make my novel better. I am grateful to have had her advice on my novel now called Mystic Quest. Author of Mystic Quest

*If your type of writing isn’t listed, have no fear; Stirling Editing is open to editing many types of writing styles and genres. The above list is simply a catalogue of our areas of expertise. NOTE: Before giving your writing to any editor, it is best to do a complete edit of your own work using whatever skills you may have as an editor in your own right. This will help you get a clearer picture of what type of editing you need most. In addition, you may be able to identify specific problem areas you would like an editor to focus on and talk over with you. * To learn more about common industry rates, click on the Editorial Freelancers Association’s rates list below.http://www.the-efa.org/res/rates.php

Turnaround time

Short Works:

Stirling Editing’s turnaround time for editing projects is negotiable. If you are pressed for time, let the editor know, and she will give you a fair estimate of how long it will take to complete the edit. The turnaround time will be written into the contract so you can be assured you will receive your work when you need it.

Novel-Length Works:

Example: The approximate turnaround time for a 250-page manuscript (12-point font, double-spaced, 250 words per page) is around 2 weeks. For shorter works, we can work out a time frame that is applicable for both our needs.

Free Sample Edit

Feel free to contact me via the form below to let me know a little bit about your project–including your project’s total word count and genre. I will then respond with a request for twenty pages from somewhere in the middle to last half of the book for a sample edit. Why not the beginning? We all tend to edit the opening pages more than any other section of our stories or books, so editing somewhere in the middle will give me a more accurate sense of the amount of work needed. This, in turn, will help me give you a more accurate fee estimate for the project.

The sample edit is also useful for you to gauge whether I am the right editor for you. You’ll get a sense of what I focus on and my editing style in general.
